Nasi Tumpeng

Many tourists only know Nasi goreng or Rendang when they come to Indonesia. However, there are a lot of goods that many foreigners do not know, such as Nasi Tumpeng. Nasi Tumpeng is a the cone shaped rice surrounded by assorted Indonesian dishes. It is originating from Javanese cuisine in Indonesia. Nasi tumpeng ususally is a yellow cone shaped rice. The rice is cooked with coconut milk and the color yellow is from tumeric. It also comes with side dishes, and they are urab (vegetables in shredded coconut), fried chicken, fried tempeh, boiled egg, shredded omelette, salted anchovy, and peanuts. Most people order Nasi tumpeng for any celebrations or festivals such as in wedding or in gratitude ceremony.
