Seblak

Seblak is one of my favorite food since I was in junior high school. Seblak is known from a city called Bandung in West Java. It has a savory and spicy taste, and the texture of seblak is chewy. Seblak is made from wet crackers with noodles cooked with vegetables and protein sources such as eggs, chicken, seafood or processed beef. Making seblak basically consists of prawn crackers that are poured with hot water and topped with herbs and vegetables. Seblak is made from boiled crackers and given spices such as shallots, garlic, salt, kencur, cayenne pepper, and flavorings.

The price of seblak is various startring around IDR 20,000 to 50,000 or around $2 to $5. It is also considered as a street food that you can find around Java island in Indonesia.

  2. Hi Winnie, I think it's cool you're sharing your culture on Indonesia! I've never had noodles made with wet crackers before but seblak looks and sounds delicious. I can't believe you can buy it for $2-$5. That's so cheap!! If I ever get the chance to visit Java island, I will definitely give seblak a try.
